Abstract


Metaverse for Climate and Tourism
Beyond entertaining people in a digital universe, the metaverse has the potential to become a complete life form. Virtual reality and augmented reality technologies, which are parts of the metaverse, offer new experiences in the entertainment sector, while having significant impacts on virtual classrooms and learning platforms. In addition to these, the metaverse, which has various applications in many other sectors, has recently started to be used in the field of climate, use of natural resources and tourism. Metaverse is used for studies that will contribute to the more careful use of natural resources and the reduction of carbon footprint. It is also possible to come across the use of metaverse to raise awareness, raise awareness and provide education about climate change. This article explores the effects of metaverse on climate and tourism. It will also discuss how the metaverse can play a role in digital tourism and cultural heritage preservation. However, the digital carbon footprint and environmental impacts of the metaverse have led to debates on the environmental sustainability of the metaverse. For this reason, the concepts of sustainability-oriented and green metaverse emphasize efforts to mitigate the possible environmental damages of this new digital universe.
