Abstract

Lands, Farms and Properties Belonging to Maria, Daughter of Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso in Turkey
After the 1848 Revolutions, many Italian, Polish and Hungarian asylum seekers sought asylum from the Ottoman Empire. Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso (1808-1871), one of the Italian refugees, and her daughter Marquis Maria de Trotti (born in 1838), went to Malta, then to Athens, Greece, and then to Izmir and then to Istanbul by sea. The princess, who had the opportunity to enter the palace of Sultan Abdülmecid in Istanbul, soon became friends with the US ambassador George Perkins Marsh, Savoy diplomat Baron Romualdo Tecco, merchant Monsieur Eugene (Safranbolu jizya tax collector), banker Monsieur Alleon, Italian Gaetano Donizetti. his brother Giuseppe Donizetti Pasha and many more. In this process, upon the encouragement of Princess Belgiojoso by Baron Romualdo Tecco and George Perkins Marsh, the princess visited Çakmakoğlu Farm and Büyük Tarla near Safranbolu. After his first impressions, he first rented this place, which he dreamed of, for his daughter Maria and Monsieur Eugene for 10 years, and then bought it. After the literature studies, the location of the farm was determined with the research carried out in the field and oral sources. As a result of the data supported by archival documents, it was determined that the fences of Çakmakoğlu Farm were demolished and the trees were cut without permission, and the farmland became a road because of the negative activities of İsmail Agha. Within the scope of the study, information about the process of the lands and farms belonging to the Marquis Maria de Trotti mentioned above after 1850 is presented.
