Abstract


Empirical Evaluation of the Restoration Projects in the Historical Ruins of Ayazini (Afyonkarahisar, Turkey) by Local Residents
Ayazini historical ruins, which have been preserved to this day, are very important for the tourism sector. Roman and Byzantine cemeteries, Byzantine churches, rock residential areas, fairy chimneys, etc. are located in the Ayazini historical ruins in Ihsaniye district of Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. It is an important region that hosting the historical ruins for sustainable tourism. These historical ruins allow us to get acquainted with the way of life, economic and social activities of the period. People are interested in the fact that the region is home to different ancient civilizations. The restoration projects carried out to preserve the historical ruins and bring them to sustainable tourism are becoming important at this point. The historical area is brought to rural tourism with the restoration, conservation and renovation projects carried out. Besides, the opinions of the public and those who came to visit are also important in the restoration projects being done. In this study, the empirical evaluation of the local residents about the restoration, conservation and renovation works carried out to protect and bring the Ayazini Ruins to tourism and their satisfaction with the studies carried out were evaluated using an assessment survey methodology.
