Abstract
Field Research of Digital Game Addiction in High School Students: The Case of Uşak
Virtual network environments in the digital world are increasing. Social media tools are increasingly diverse. This situation becomes dangerous for children and especially for young people. The addictive effect of digital games in adolescents and even adults is increasing. Easily accessible programs and games are offered by social media programs, without being attached to any safety nets. In this context, the study aims to determine digital game addiction among high school students. Within this framework, the study was directed to determine the level of digital game addiction, the difference of game addiction by gender, the frequency of internet use, the effect of violent games on adolescents, and the educational level of parents. For this reason, a relational screening method was used in the study, and the research universe was composed of students from five high schools in Uşak. According to the results, it was found that digital game addiction was higher in male students than female students in the 14-15 age range. As a result of the survey, it was concluded that the use of consoles and smartphones had a significant effect on digital game addiction.
