Geographical Distribution of Recreational Areas in Karabük Province
The province of Karabük possesses natural resources, geomorphological structures, Yenice forests, the UNESCO heritage town of Safranbolu, historic ruins, museums, shopping malls, cafes and restaurants, inns and public baths, and recreation activities. In this study, the geographic distribution of outdoor and indoor recreation areas in Karabük province is covered within the scope of the principle of distribution of Geography Science. The geographical distribution of recreation areas has been covered based on districts, and a detailed field survey has been prepared so that it can be explained in detail. The locations of the recreation areas within the district's boundaries are marked on maps using remote sensing and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Programs. Some problems related to recreation areas were identified in the field studies and suggestions were developed for them. Mass media of recreation areas in districts and academic publications should be promoted. Accommodation centers should be constructed without destroying the natural texture of Yenice forests, which have high recreational potential. Except for daily needs, there is no facility that can provide accommodation services in the ski resort of Keltepe, which is an important recreation area of Karabük Province. The hotels to be built in this area will accelerate the development of the recreation area. In addition, orderly retention of statistical data of recreation areas in districts will contribute to future planning.
