Abstract
Investigation of The Qur’an Juzs in terms of Illumination and Binding with Inventory Numbers 000717-(1-30) Protected in the Central Library of The Presidency of Religious Affairs
Manuscripts in our country are kept in museums, libraries and private collections. Among the most rewritten manuscripts the Holy Qur’an ranks first. Manuscripts in the libraries are being transferred to the digital environment and the works of presenting them to the service of the researchers are becoming widespread. The cataloging process of manuscripts within the Presidency of Religious Affairs was completed and presented to the service of researchers. The binding and gilding of the Holy Qur’an wallets numbered 000717-(1-30) in this library constitute the subject of this study. The examined Holy Qur’an is composed of thirty pieces each bound separately. The workmanship, motif, color and composition analyze of the Qur’an binding and gilding was performed. The data obtained were analyzed and drawings of the patterns were made. The history of the Holy Qur’an, which is known as the rewriting date, is examined whether it reflects the characteristics of the period of the binding and gilding. According to the findings obtained in the study examined the binding and gilding of the Qur'an juzs have had XIX century decoration. In addition, the aim of this study is to provide the art community by examining the patterns, colors, motifs and stylistic features of the binding and gilding of the Holy Qur’an juzs.
