Abstract
The Relationship between Hotel Employees' Perception of Social Support, Self-Esteem and Patience: Antalya Example
The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationships between hotel employees' perception of social support, self-esteem and patience levels. The population of the research consists of five-star hotel employees in Antalya. The data of the research were collected by survey technique from 512 hotel employees selected by convenience sampling method. Structural equation model was used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, participants completed scales assessing their perceived social support, self-esteem and patience levels. As a result of the applied analyses, it was determined that there was a moderate relationship between perceived social support and self-esteem of hotel employees, while a low level relationship was found between perceived social support and patience. It was observed that there was a moderately significant relationship between self-esteem and patience. In addition, it was determined that perceived social support affected patience at a small level, while self-esteem affected patience at a moderate level. The results of this study can guide managers in hotel businesses to develop potential strategies to increase the psychological well-being of employees and improve business performance. Increasing employees' level of social support, strengthening self-esteem, and supporting patience skills can positively impact overall satisfaction and effectiveness at work. Therefore, business managers may consider strategies that focus on these factors to promote employees' psychological well-being.
