Abstract

A Research on the Effect of on the Job Training Given to Refugees on the Dimensions of Entrepreneurship
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of on-the-job training to the dimensions of entrepreneurship which is organized in cooperation with the " Refugees and Asylum Seekers Assistance and Solidarity Association" and " Karabuk University Continuing Education Research and Application Center" aiming to increase the professional competencies of refugees in the fields of welding, electricity and design-furniture by taking international demands into account. Migrations, which have been occurring for centuries but have increased in recent years, have become a major problem for the whole world. Refugees and asylum seekers also need to work, as the aid is not continuous and not at a level that will enable them to survive. It would be to the benefit of both sides, for countries those cannot find employees to employ in some business lines by accepting refugees and asylum seekers to close this lack. In this context, the demands arising from international cooperation were evaluated and a total of 113 Afghan refugees were given three-month training in two periods in the fields of welding, electricity and design-furniture. In the study, on-the-job training of refugees and asylum seekers was examined through the investment, idea and project dimensions of entrepreneurship. Firstly, missing value analysis and normality tests were performed on the survey data applied to 102 of the 113 Afghan refugees who participated in the training. Normally distributed data were analyzed by using the regression analysis method. The findings revealed that as the scores obtained from the on-the-job training activity increase the thought and project dimension score will also increase, and there is no significant relationship for the investment dimension. It has been determined that the training provided contributes to the idea of entrepreneurship and preparing project, but does not affect the investment dimension which includes elements such as customer, market, business idea, organization, product and capital, which will directly affect the entrepreneurship.
