Abstract
Determination of Sports Participation Motivation of Individuals Participating in Amateur Football Tournament within the Scope of Sports Tourism
The aim of this study is to investigate the motivations of individuals (masters/ veterans) who participate in active sports activities as amateurs, the relationships between the variables and their differences. The questionnaire form used to collect the data was designed according to the relevant literature. The questionnaire was applied to the athletes over the age of 40, organized within the scope of Sakarya Victory 100th Anniversary Football Tournament on September 2-5, 2021. 107 questionnaires were collected by convenience sampling method and the collected data were evaluated statistically. According to the results of the analysis, no statistically significant difference was found between the age categories of the athletes and the sub-dimensions of their motivation to participate in sports. It has been concluded that the averages of the individuals in the 40 and 50 age categories participating in amateur sports activities are generally high. According to the descriptive analysis results of the sub-dimensions, it is seen that the skill development and friendship average of the individuals participating in the tournament is high, and that the other dimensions continue with the same positivity.
