Abstract
Examination of the Relationship Between Parents' Social Skills and Preschool Children's Bully-Victim Behaviors
In this study, it was examined the relationship between parents' social skills and their preschool children’bully-victim behaviors. The study group consists of 113 children between the ages of 3 and 6 who attend pre-school education and their parents (n=113). Bully-Victim Child Behaviors Evaluation Form and Social Skills Inventory were used to collect data. The bully-victim behaviors of the children were evaluated by their preschool teachers. Descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data, t-Test, ANOVA, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test and Spearman Brown Correlation Coefficient were used according to the normality distribution of the variables. It was found that the status of being a bully-victim-passive bully in children did not differ according to the age of the child, the number of siblings, the age of the parent, the education level of the parent. In the study, a significant relationship was found between the age of the parents and their ability to manage their emotions. It was seen that the ability of parents aged 31-35 and over to manage emotions was higher than parents aged 41 and over, and parents who were primary school graduates had higher ability to manage emotions than those with graduate degrees. In the study, it was determined that there was no significant relationship between parents' social skills and children's bully-victim-passive bully behaviors.
