Volunteerism Motivation In Congress Organization: 1st National Alternative Tourism Congress Case
1st National Alternative Tourism Congress was held between the dates of 7 and 9 April 2016 by Erzincan University Vocational School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. In this context, before, during and after the congress, the organization of activities to be performed the student volunteers were scheduled to take part. The aim of this study is to determine whether the students what the factors motivating organizations to volunteer at the congress. In the study, to measure the volunteering motivation, voluntary motivation scales which is developed by Berber (2015) ve Koşan ve Güneş (2009)are basically taken and certain statements prepared in accordance with the purpose and added new phrases. The universe of the study consists of sophomore students studying in the program in Erzincan University Vocational School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (cooking, tourism and hotel management and tourism and travel services programs). Data collection method was utilized as a survey techniques. The survey conducted between 15-25 December 2016, all of the students are participated, but 51 survey were evaluated. General arithmetic average of the statements regarding the volunteering motivation is higher according to survey results. Participants have emerged in a way they want to take part in the congress organization. In addition, non-parametric statistical techniques of the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used in analysis of difference.
