Abstract
Undergraduate Tourism Students’ Evaluation of the Hotel Enterprises in Terms of Environmental Awareness
This study focuses on Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University undergraduate tourism students’ evaluation of the hotel enterprises that they are working for as a staff member or a trainee in terms of environmental awareness. In this respect, it was aimed to determine the students’ perceptions regarding the environment and how they evaluate the practices of hotel enterprises toward the environment by carrying out importance-performance analysis. Within the framework of the study data were collected from 164 students through conducting a questionnaire. Since these students are potential employees for the tourism sector, their evaluations through sectoral knowledge and experiences are of vital importance. The results of the study showed that the participants value the recycling of paper, tin, plastic, bottle and etc. the most. On the other hand, purchasing/using post consumer recyclable products are rarely applicable in the hotels.
