Abstract

The Evaluation of Efficiency of Provinces in Turkey by Socio-Economic Main Indicators Using Data Envelopment Analysis
Data Envelopment Analysis is a nonparametric method based on linear programming. DEA is a technique based on mathematical programming that is capable of measuring relative efficiency of making decision units by processing multiple input and output. In this study, at first mathematical structure of data envelopment analysis, practice process and CCR and BCC models the most widely used in the analysis were introduced. The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficiencies of provinces health, education, economy, bank fields by socio-economic indicators of provinces in Turkey. Data Envelopment Analysis method was used to measure the efficiency of 81 provinces whose data are applicable for analysis. In this analysis health, education and bank in the fields are used output-oriented CCR models and in the field of economy is used output-oriented BCC model. To solve models EMS (Efficiency Measurement System) program which is used with program of Data Envelopment Analysis was used. As a result of study, the efficient provinces has found and determined reference values for inefficient provinces. Health, education, economy and bank in the fields efficiencies of the provinces were shown in the chart.
