Abstract


History Perceptions in the Novels of Mehmed Niyazi
Mehmet Niyazi is one of the most important names of the Republican Literature Period, especially as a novelist. Inspired by the vital events in the history, builds his plot on this reality. Therefore, time, place and characters are displayed with a realistic mood. Producing the strongest historical novels of Turkish literature, Mehmet Niyazi corrects the historically false information and perceptions. His novels on Yemen, Tripoli, the Balkans and Çanakkale are remarkable in terms of their value in “education of history”. His realistic approach makes his Works similar to “modern epic”. While writing his “Yemen’ Ah Yemen!” (Yemen, Oh Yemen!), “Yazılmamış Destanlar” (Unwritten Epics) ve “Çanakkale Mahşeri” (The Doom of Çanakkale), he carried out serious research in the archives and in the field and so, he has the title “investigative writer”. In terms of “literature- history” and “historical novel”, it will immediately be realized that Mehmet Niyazi has contributed to the related literature.
