Abstract
Investigation of Parks from Landscape Architecture: Karabük City Center Sample
Green public areas play important roles in the formation of a habitable environment and responding to the recreational needs of individuals. It is important to plan green public areas systematically to have physical, social, economic, aesthetic, and ecological benefits, and it is important that these areas should have the size and qualities needed to meet the urban population. The public and green areas of the City of Karabük were evaluated within the framework of the qualitative and quantitative features of the neighborhood. Data were obtained regarding the requirements, population, character, usage density, and accessibility of the neighborhoods. Then, a questionnaire was prepared for the purpose of developing a park that consists of 40 different questions selected from these neighborhoods. The content of the form was applied to a total of 27 parks. It was observed that the prevailing design concept is of the same texture and features, in accordance with the data that is obtained. However, it should be designed as a place where individuals and children meet recreational activities and benefit visually and aesthetically. Thus, suggestions were provided to make the city more modern and more homogeneous in the planning of new parks.
