Abstract
The Professional Proficiencies of Imams: A Case Study on Imams in Safranbolu
This study examines the levels of professional proficiencies of imams according to their own perceptions who work for the Presidency of Religious Affairs in terms of religious duties. For this purpose, a “Personal Information Questionnaire” and the “Scale for Religious Professional Proficiency” were prepared by the researcher himself and administered to 85 imams who work in Karabük / Safranbolu in the date of March 17, 2014. For the analysis of data, T-test and analysis of variance were used. As a result of this study, it was not observed an important difference between the professional proficiency levels of İmams according to their mosque species, education levels and seniorities in their professions, however it was found that there was a positive relationship at the level of (p <0.01) between the frequency of book reading and the professional proficiencies of imams.
