Abstract
Fayyum Portraits
The Portraits of Fayyum have been called this name because they were found in underground cemeteries in Fayyum, Egypt. These portraits were made between the 1st and 3rd centuries B.C. when Egypt was under the rule of the Roman Empire. These portraits, to which contemporary portraits are stylistically similar, show the individual characteristics of the portrait models in great detail. In the present study, unknown elements of these portraits, which were prepared to accompany the deceased during the infinite journey, were emphasized.
