Geomorphological Features of the Southeast of Van Lake and Ecotourism
The aim of this study which probes the natural assets in souhteast of the Van Lake, presents the potential of the geomorphological formations in the region in terms of ecotourism. For this purpose, the region’s geomorphological formations were mapped, formations were linked to the gelogical and tectonic features and tourism potantial was evaluated. It is possible to see the most beautiful examples of fluvial, karstic, glacial and coastal geomorphology within Gürpınar, Bahçesaray and Çatak region. Therefore the study area has an important potential both for scientific-technical research, for recreative activities and for nature sports. The study area which lies from high mountains to the coastal zones is also an important cultural and religious tourism area where Akdamar Island and the Church located on it.
