Abstract
Historical Mosques in Anatolia and Söğüt Çelebi Sultan Mehmet Mosque
Historical places; they are immovable cultural assets that can bring the architectural elements, engineering experiences, materials and cultural information of the period they were built to the present day. There are many historical mosques in Anatolia from the Ottoman and Seljuk eras. These historical mosques were built using stone or wood construction techniques and have survived to the present day. It is possible to see advanced wood and stone craftsmanship. In this study, a few mosques were exemplified, especially those built using wood or stone construction techniques, and Söğüt Mehmet Çelebi Mosque was examined in detail and information about the general features of the building and the current state of the building were given. Celebi Sultan Mehmet Mosque, located in Bilecik province Sogut district, was examined. It was built by Çelebi Sultan Mehmet the years 1414 and 1420. It is a grand mosque with a rectangular plan, 12 domes and 1 minaret, with 3 entrance doors from the north, east and west sides. In this study, Celebi Mehmet Mosque, owned by the General Directorate of Foundations, aims to better understand and evaluate its architecture and features. In order to make the comparison and evaluation of Celebi Mehmet Mosque more reliable, other mosque examples in Anatolia were examined. As a result of the examinations, in the interior of the Söğüt Çelebi Sultan Mehmet mosque; plastering the deteriorated surfaces with lime mortar, renewing the deteriorated wooden floor coverings in accordance with the existing ones, reinforcing the wooden stairs and railings, maintaining the windows. If outdoors; It is recommended to carry out some restoration interventions such as cleaning the facade and repairing the joints, making a drainage system to protect the building from environmental waters.
