Abstract

Evaluation of Expo 2016 Erzurum Garden with its Artistic Expression and its Applications
Expo organizations, which have been held since the 19th century and are called World Exhibitions, are mega-events at a global level that enable countries to exchange information in the fields of culture, history, technology and education. In these events, projects for a more livable world are exhibited and international knowledge on the determined themes is shared. This study was carried out on the Erzurum Garden in Expo 2016 Antalya, the first International Botanical Exhibition hosted by Turkey. The aim of the study is to evaluate the form, shape and activity used by the designers in Erzurum Garden and the artistic expressions they realize. Erzurum Garden was established on an area of approximately 850 m2 in the Expo fair area. The main theme of the garden is based on the transition from traditional to modernism between Mesopotamia and Europe. Architecture and landscape reflections from Ancient Egypt, Anatolian Seljuk, Ottoman and Europe took place in the garden. While providing historical information with the Double-Headed Eagle motif, which is one of the symbols of the Turkish World, and a replica of the Double Minaret Madrasa located in the historical texture of the city of Erzurum, many artistic activities were held in relation to the Expo theme of 'Flower and Child' and cultural heritage and biological diversity were emphasized. Messages were given about the future of the world on many issues, especially on the protection of the world.
