Abstract
France’s Plan of Using Mehmet Ali Pasha Before the Occupation of Algeria
In this paper, diplomatic initiatives and the events which are related to the plans of using Mehmet Ali Pasha by France before the occupation of Algeria are evaluated. In the study, at first, the plan of using the Egyptian Governor Mehmet Ali Pasha in the Algerian issue is introduced and then the reasons to quit this plan are adressed. In particular, study was focused on how the colonial states, who wanted to be influential on a certain geographical area, planned to use the figures who had influence in the region for their own interests, instead of occupying this geographical area.
